At what point, my life turned for the worse? In the beginning.

Mid-life
On my 30th birthday, I had a strong feeling that I’d reached a mid-point in my life (or was it a third? Can’t remember clearly). I’ve changed country (came to the US), or – better yet – civilization, the youth was behind me, a really boring and tedious part of my life had just begun. I’m not sure whether that was the consequence of my coming to the US, or it would happen anyhow.
Reversal

Another friend of mine has this theory: it would be great if humans’ life goes in reverse. First, you are retired for 20 years or so, don’t do much, and enjoy life. Then, for the next 40 years, you’re working, but not too hard, since you’re not concerned about retirement. After that, next 20 years, you go to school, chase girls, etc. Next 7-8 years, you’re just playing, somebody else is taking care of you. In the end, you simply disappear and, through the embryo become – nothing!

Grandmaster

Life is like a chess game against a cruel, unforgiving grandmaster in which you – the average Joe – don’t have the slightest chance of winning. Of course, in the beginning, you’re not aware of who you’re playing against, and of the fact that your opponent controls all the aspects of the game. Once you realize your disadvantages, it’s too late. Anyways, you didn’t have a choice, to begin with, since the game was forced upon you.
