People of Eastern Europe (former communist countries) have difficulties adjusting to capitalism, mainly because of the lack of absolute social criteria.
In essence, all those that emigrated to the West, did it for one reason only – comfort, all other reasons are simply excuses. What a cheap way to lose one’s soul!
Americans learn about certain countries via media, after they go and bomb the shit out of them. Balkanians, however, are first eliminated from World Cup by a certain country, then they go and learn more about it (even about its footballers).
I’m yet to meet an immigrant that doesn’t complain about his/her “new” country and doesn’t think that the “old” country was, in many respects, better. Yet, they are staying.
