Wooden houses

An acquaintance of mine told me this story: “We came to America at night; it was dark when we arrived, so we didn’t really see much. The next day, I got up, went out on the balcony, and after looking around a bit, I shouted to my wife with astonishment: – Daro, my God, all the houses here are made of wood!!”. I then asked him if he had ever seen an American movie before (he was older than me, so I’m sure he had).

My sister

My older sister, who left the house when she was 17 since we were poor, is also one of the great philosophers of our time. Every time I call her, I hear the following sentence, as an answer to the simple question: “How are you?”. The answer always is, invariably: “(We are) working, sleeping, and waiting for time to pass by”.

Wally the Gator

One of the greatest contemporary philosophers, the cartoon character Wally the Gator, in one of the episodes is annoyed by the kid with a whistle, and he is chasing him till the end, when he catches the kid, takes the whistle from him, and start whistling himself. Then, pleased, with a big smile on his face says: “It seems that it all depends on which side of the whistle you are”. Timeless!
