If we, humanity, were to continue to live under the laws of the jungle (i.e. capitalism), then what is the point of Nature’s gifts of consciousness and intelligence bestowed upon us? We may as well abandon it, and return to the jungle.
Humans, like other animals, need a release valve to be healthy. Modernity got rid of it, that’s why we’re all so depressed. Our ancestors were happier, they had their release.
